High Pitched Sound From PC

T_y

Hi All,

Just upgraded my PC. Now running a Ryzen 9 3900X on the Asus rog strix x570-i with Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 3600 16gb.

Once I'd got things up and running with the case closed up I could notice a high pitched noise coming from the case but can't work out exactly where it is coming from. I'm thinking it could be the chipset fan but it's quite hard to locate as it's an ITX build.

If it is the chipset fan, is that normal? The sound is quite ear piercing and annoying. Anyway of reducing this?

If I'm not mistaken, many (all?) of the x570 chipsets have a passive chipset cooling option somewhere in the UEFI. See if you can find something along those lines on your system, unfortunately, I can't tell you where to look (I don't know Asus UEFI, and much less Ryzen systems).

If the issue persists without the fan running, it tells you it's something else. My next suspicions would be coil whine from any GPU(s) you have, followed by your PSU.
