Why get more expensive ram that does the same job?

Tax and fees would trash the build with the 8320.

The OP mentions that the list are parts that are needed.

A lot of my friends say they "need" things until I point out how little they'll actually use them. One of my friends was set on buying Xeon processor because it was $1600 so it "must be better and I need it."

Doesn't PCPP figure out the tax?

The RAM is a $7 increase for a 5 - 10% increase in lower frame rate performance (average). People pay a lot more to get a similar gain in a graphics card.

Nah, PC Part picker doesn't do tax, mainly because it varies based on the retailer and what state you're in. I pay tax on all my Amazon purchases, but not my Newegg ones.

Ahhh I just assumed since at the bottom it says "includes tax etc etc when available".

I agree that an optical drive is generally unnecessary for gaming. It would help if the OP were to elaborate on whether it's actually needed or not.

PCPP doesn't figure out tax.

Source for the performance increase? As far as I know, the difference should be within margin of error.

There have been a few threads on Tom's that quote tests.

I'm too tired to find and compile it right now.

They found that jumping from 1600 - 1866 usually cost 3% more (new build, of course) for a 5 - 10% gain, and then dropped to lower gains from there on up.

1600 - 1866 was the sweet spot for cost to performance.

Of course it'll vary game to game, and even motherboard brand to motherboard brand as you can see a 2 - 4 fps jump board to board.

Thanks for the help. I am not trying to be rude, but if you want to argue, do it somewhere where I don't get notifications about something I dont care about. Like YOUR OWN POST. Thanks again.

To be fair, that 1866 MHz vs. 1600 MHz discussion they're having is kinda related to your build; it's about which speed RAM would be best for you. But I'm sorry if some of my own posts in here didn't further any relevant discussion.

Anyway, for what it's worth, I agree most with the build @WoodenMarker posted to best serve your needs.

I understand, but it's gaming, I could have 16 gb of 2400 MHz and it wouldn't be that different from 8 gb of 1600 MHz
