Is there no place where companies take old tech stuff and re-use the materials?

I cannot find anything online and it blows my mind. Surely things like graphics card have quite a bit of valuable metals inside them which can be melted down and used again? Would companies not make money from taking these for free to re-use and sell off?

There are companies that do this, including scrapyards.

But it isn't exactly ez money, as there is a lot of cost in taking the valuable material and properly disposing of the non-precious stuff.
