New PSU Advice/Recommendation

Hello,

I've been using my current PSU (Corsair AX1200) for almost 10 years now and honestly its seems like its still going strong. But then again I don't know what to look for to determine if a PSU is dying or in need of being replaced before it dies taking other components with it, and that's whats constantly in my mind. This PSU has seen some heavy use in the past powering two Radeon HD 6990 which I recall was about 70%+ utilization of this PSU and it ran that for about 4+ years. Which new PSU would you recommend? I've also been thinking of adding another GPU in the future.

Even for an SLI setup 1000W would be enough, so more than that is beyond overkill. Here are options:

Refer to the PSU Tier list as your manual on which quality PSU's to choose, for a build like your I would only go Tier A, A+, and S.

It's recommended to not have your PSU at too high of a utilization so as to have the internals not be stressed(specifically, the fan is the main concern if your PSU is a good unit, since you can't open the PSU up to switch it out)

 

Assuming you'll want another 2080 Ti, you'll probably be looking at a maximum system power consumption of ~800W(according to PCPartPicker, and taking into account Intel's bullshit 95W TDP rating)

 

You'll probably want a PSU that's ~1000W or higher

 

According to the PSU Tier List, you'll probably be looking at Tier A+

1200 might be a little overkill but overkill on a PSU doesn't hurt(well, except financially of course)
