You missed several essential steps, like cleaning the pads and the pins. Also, where's the mouthpiece of the hotair station?!!! Why not get Louis to show you how todo it properly? He already has several good vids on his channel.

Is Nick new? This is hilarious, I just don't think I've seen him around before. Good video though.

This would have been much better to use than a desoldering wand - No moving air to blow pins around once you get the pins in place.

BGA Rework Station Infrared Welding Machine SMD Soldering Reflow Station Welder Repair Heating Reballing IR6500 1250W CE Certification Fit Xbox360 PS3 - - Amazon.com

Have a setup like this myself.

Use it with the reballing mask and it would do the job if anything will.

Speaking of such, need to get some of those masks myself.

Been there, done that. I mean not exactly that but probably harder: rework/resolder micro resistors on a logic board.

It is hard as hell it is damn frustrating you just want to toss the whole thing in the ground and stomp on it but when you do finish it (probably hours later) it feels like such a huge victory it's hard to describe! :D

Every time I had to go through this I wonder how the f*ck Louis manages to live out of it - and he's so good he makes it seem so easy! ?

Great video by the way. Wish we had more of those :)

EDIT - quick few things:

Clean up the flux with isopropyl and a soft (new) toothbrush;

That magnifier is not on the link provided (and I've been really looking for one of those);

You can get a cheap microscope on AliExpress though (colour accuracy is rubbish but good enough): https://www.aliexpress.com/item/33013491521.html

Hang on... so I can send dead components to LinusTechTips and you'll give me something for it? :) I may be getting a VERY interesting piece in the next few days. I'm pondering tearing it apart myself but for the internet rep points I'd seriously consider sending it in! PM if you want. I can guarantee you it'd make a very interesting 20 minute video!

Feel like I'm the only one who got that Borat reference. Nice one Linus.
