i understand about gsync and freesync now

gsync for Nvidia

freesync for AMD

lately you can use freesync monitors with nvidia gpus. it's not perfect, but it works most of the time. so if you find a monitor that you really like but it's not gsync, it's still OK.

now your just bl**dy complicating matters  hahaha  (joke) :) but ok understood thanks ,

ild rather go down the  right sync path and get it right the first time

as its a lot of money to spend out

Ive still got about another 9 to 10 weeks before i can afford to do this  . so if anything better comes out in parts or monitor wise before than (that's within my budget)

, let me know please thanks

How easy woiuld it be to just buy the parts myself and build it myself ?  ( ive never built a pc before)

or do you think i its safer if i just get a pc shop to build it for me ? ( only bad side to this is extra labour cost )

ive watch u guys on youtube building pcs it doesnt look that hard , or is it more complicated than that ?

watch some youtube tutorials. if it looks complicated, let someone else do it. if it seems easy, try it yourself.

the only thing i dont have is windows 10 software , but cant i just download it of the net now ?

or do u have to pay for that too ?

you can download it from the microsoft website. they have an utility to create a bootable usb. you can install it without a licence, but it's only a trial. you need to pay for a licence, but you can find cheap ones on ebay.

That is an awful build. Crap motherboard and psu and the R5 3600 is faster than the 2700X for gaming. He also doesn't want a 24" 1080p screen.

Also the op is in the UK not USA so wrong currency.

Thanks for your reply and post Vtx Dippy , but yes i agree with Lee , im not liking this build either

and for monitor , yup 24" way to small , im still having second thoughts about the size of Boggy's 35" , even tho its it looks a really nice monitor

but the larger size monitors are really expensive.

Im now wondering if i should just blow 2K pounds on just the pc itself , and just save up for a larger monitor and get that at a later date, as ive currently got a good enough (for time being) 27"

So can you give me some Nvidia, gsync builds for 2k pounds for a very fast games pc please

Reminder would like....

No flashing lights , just a on off light only and  maybe heat temp display but not a must

at least 32 RAM

1T SSD  ( note i have a 256 SSD with windows10 on it in my current machine, so now thinking of just using that  for startup only, that a be ok yer ? )

high spec Nvidia graphic (or if you think AMD is better on certain cards than Nvidia within my budget than give me specs for AMD please

a lot of cooling / chip rad , fans ( i dont want to have anymore problems with cooling , i'm so over that)

a descent motherboard

i9 or i7 chip

at least x4 usb slots in the back  for keyboard , mouse , printer , and a spare extra

at least x1 or 2 usb in front of machine for headsets / a spare extra

Sound board 7.1 with capable options to run 5.1 also if need be

Extras

( Im planning on buying a T! or T2 external driver for music and films) so please add this within my budget

I also need new usb headsets , but shops dont seems to stock usb headsets anymore , there all jack connectors, whats with this ?

i dont want to have to keep swapping between headsets and surround speaker , ( my current creative 5.1 are jacks ) but im planning on renewing these at a later date ie for 7.1

Lastly if you see any large monitors 40" plus at reasonable price,  flat or curved that will run with my new system that a be great

Thanks for any help you can give me

Si

Hey, I've looked at my previous build again and you can't really get more performance by throwing more money at it. It already had the second best gpu, while de the best gpu is twice as expensive and only 10% better. It already have a good cpu, going i7 would be a downgrade, while going i9 would have you invest in a dead platform, as intel is releasing a new cpu series this year on a different motherboard than current gen cpus.

I think you'll be happy with the initial build.

ii think ive decided what monitor im going to get

im going to blow 2k pounds on the pc and save up more till i can afford this ...

Alienware AW3418DW  its gsync it currently stands at £799 , and looks and seems a far better monitor than the predator from the research ive done

all tho the predator is now a bit cheaper

Sure, go for it. You can also look at some reviews. Rtings and displayninja have good monitor reviews, also hardware unboxed on youtube.

not sure. come back in 2 months, when you're ready and we'll look then whether and how much it's worth waiting

Maybe. Depends. Do you want a pc now or in 6 months?

also check this out ... this is funny ... but seriously not really

So I went to my local pcworld today , hopping to have a look at my hopefully new Alienware AW3418DW ( because PC world " Was" currently selling it for the cheapest price at £799

when i got there i was then told by a young staff member " that they do not stock anything over 32" but the first funny thing was  I'm surrounded by loads of over 32" crazy 50 + size tv's  !!  being funny , i just smiled at him and pointed to all the huge tvs ,  bright red he then corrected himself and said " oh oh oh i mean in monitors"

i couldn't help but laugh.

Then another  guy (only a little bit older) stepped in, who had been standing next to the first guy the whole time ... and then asked what i was looking for ? haha

( he had been standing right next to us the whole time , so i know he heard me the first time) I'm thinking  god why is this new idiot asking me again ? haha

I tell the 2nd guy again ,  and he goes and looks it up on a pc , and say yes we dont stock this in any of are stores because its specialised and not a normal seller ,

fair enough i said , but i was hopping to see it before i brought it , i also wanted to see it with a film playing on it too... so is there any chance u can get one here , so i can see it

he said " No ! ... not unless you pay for it first , ( I'm thinking what ? ... I said " i wanted to see it before i buy it

ok i said so if i pay for it , you will get it to this store then ur set it up so i can come back,  and  see it run , and see a film run on it too  , but if i dont like it, your give me my full money back yes ?

He said No ! ...  ( What T F ?  haha  ,  )  He said where not allowed to get it out of the box , in case it gets damaged ,

But then he said .. what u can do is buy it take it home unbox it , use it for 28 days , and then if u dont like it bring it back and where give u full refund

Hang on i said ... " so your telling me its safer if i put it in a back of my van , drive it home unbox it , and use it for 28 days ,and then rebox it , put it back in my van and bring it back if need be is safer

than .. it not travelling anywhere , and setup by pcworlds (so called) pc experts ... right  ?   I said you must have some in depth knowledge of computers to do this job yes ?

the first guy then spoke up and said , " I only work here 2 days a week "  haha (You can then see the 2nd guy giving the first guy the evil eye to try and get him to shut up ) haha

The 2nd guy then just says , its company policy ,  I said " ok so what u mean is .. Pcworld are forcing the " Safe" responsibility  on my head , so in the hope that something happens to the monitor ,  so they dont have the responsibility of either giving back money or having to send it back ?

They both went quite...

At that point i was going to just going to walk out of the door , but there was one more question i want to ask first ..

So i been price watching this monitor , and a few others for a while now

Earlier that day , before i went to pcworld .. i found this ...

     https://pcpartpicker.com/product/c9qbt6/dell-aw3418dw-341-3440x1440-120hz-monitor-aw3418dw

(Via Pc Parts Picker Amazon uk are now selling it for £699 )

Currently Pcworld states , if you can find any product within the uk or uk website , they will match it

So i showed the 2nd guy the advert , and proved to him that Amazon uk was selling it for that £699 price

He said if you buy it today right now where match it  ( its a bl**dy shame coz i wont have 699 until next week :( ) , ( Ill just have to keep hopping it a be the same price or cheaper next week too)

but anyway ...

also on Pcworlds website , it also says £150 cash back .. look ..

https://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/computing/pc-monitors/pc-monitors/alienware-aw3418dw-quad-hd-35-curved-led-gaming-monitor-black-10190551-pdt.html

so i said to the 2nd guy .. So your site is now showing this monitor with the cash back .. he said yes

so i said  if i was to buy this monitor right now,  you will charge me 699 , then in 14 days i can then also claim another £150 also  ( now making the monitor only £549 )

He replied with we dont do the cash backs you will have to get that back from Dell , but in theory yes , but then he says , whilst looking at the cash back small print

Dell quote at bottom of pcworld web page / under  " offers and deals "  that £150 is only given from products when you spend £999 or more

I said well do i get the cash back or not , he said im not sure your have to contact dell

So when i got home i rang dell , and cut a long story short..  Dell tell me that the monitor was originally 999 , but now its dropped to 799 it is no longer valid

i told dell about Pcworlds website that its still on there , they told me that's wrong and Pcworld should not be still stating it

so i now gather Dell will be talking to pcworld about this

But i thought if there showing that as a price and offer , then they have to give u that price or offer by law

the only bad side to this is Dell do actually say 999 or more in small print , so i spose my good luck of saving myself £250 on a awesome monitor  just run out

it was wealth the cheeky try tho haha

As for pcworld staff .. geees there so dim  , i dont think any of them have any experience or in depth knowledge of what there selling or any customer manners whats so ever

most of the time they was both calling me "mate"  lol instead of Sir , and even tho i told them my name , ( coz i dont really like Sir either ) not one of them ever used it

The other thing to take note on about pcworld is they state that its " free delivery " but what they dont tell you via there website is that its only free delivery to the store, then you have to collect it from that store

if you want them to deliver your product to your house then they will charge you extra for this service

I think ill be just keeping an eye on my monitor on Amazon and getting it straight from them and praying that it turns up in one piece and undamaged
