Sophos Network Firewall

On my wifi network I have sophos firewall installed. So the internet speed is limited by using the sophos. But there are some apps and websites like tictoc that work unrestricted at high speed.

Any Speed test shows around 10mbps while tictoc works at 40-50 mbps.

1>I want to know the exact reason behind this.

2> Can I use this loophole to speed up rest of my downloads.

Do you have QoS enabled on the firewall perhaps?

NOTE: I no longer frequent this site. If you really need help, PM/DM me and my e.mail will alert me.

Probably need to check the QoS settings and make adjustments as needed

I am not network admin,

Is the Sophos firewall not under your control?

Then no, you cannot exploit this loophole. The QoS (Quality of Service) sounds like it's throttling certain sites/services, and not others, based on need. You could try buying a VPN, and sneaking under that way, but no guarantees of success, and depending on where you are, most VPN services have a steep performance hit

It could be a long list of reasons some connections are faster than other.

QoS as mentioned above, but it could also be packet inspection. If the firewall isn't under your control then it's not much you can do, other than use a VPN. But that would be circumventing your schools/works security policy which I can't recommend.
