CPU or GPU?

web0623

I am torn about which direction to take,  I am looking at these possibilities:

r7 2700x with a RTX 2080

r5 3700x with a RTX 2070

r5 3600 with RTX 2070

It is  for mainly a gaming machine.  I have not decided on a motherboard yet, leaning toward a B450 Tomahawk.  I do have mid tower case, Corsair RM 750 PSU, 16 Gb 3200 RAM, four Corsair ML 120mm case fans,

I'm very new here so correct me if I am wrong. But I think GPU affects gameplay a lot more than a CPU does, so as long as you have an averagely-decent CPU and a powerful GPU you should be fine.

Can't you go with R5 3600 + RTX 2080?

My current system has a 2700x, so I would cannibalize that if I went for the extra cost of the 2080.

if you have the 2700x already, keep it. the upgrade to 3600 or 3700x is less significant than the upgrade from 2070 to 2080

I agree, I am just unsure of the pros and cons of these different configurations.

Thank you, I guess that is what I was trying to figure out.
