Why does BeamNG have to be paid alpha access?

Why does it have to be? I know it's alpha and all, but why can't it just be free, so everyone can enjoy it? BeamNG is just like Rigs of Rods, but unlike Rigs of Rods, Rigs of Rods is all FREE! All the mods, updates, everything, is FREE.

But it's just like Rigs of Rods, which is about as awesome as BeamNG.

Because the money goes towards further development improving on the current infrastructure of the game.

 

Why can't they just use their own money? Geez, stop with the begging and parsimonious lifestyle, game devs.

OK, well, maybe they can get it thru the gov't. BTW, how long has BeamNG been in alpha? When will it ever be in beta?

Not sure if trolling or serious...

Why do you expect something that takes time and money to develop to be free? Especially if it's your full time job you're not going to give it away for free unless you see some pretty serious potential (like LOL bs Dota but let's be honest in the end you do pay quite a lot for a good selection of champs in LOL anyway).

Also I'm pretty sure the government is not funding games directly. Maybe supporting if the wage is under a certain minimum or whatever but they are not going to be like: "you develop a game, here is 1Billion for you."

So unless you want tons of in-game micro transactions I see no problem in paying a fixed prices for a game beforehand.

If you don't want to pay, don't buy it. And if you want to play it so badly over the free game, maybe it's worth it and you should invest the money. Whatever the case may be, nobody makes you pay and it's your decision. But quit bitching about something not being free!
