If you get a mechanical keyboard and get used to it, like for a month or so.....

You will never want to touch anything else again in your life.

I don't game. I only need my keyboard to write, write and write some more. Switched to mechanical (Otemu Blue), now, I can't touch membrane KB-s. I'd say: go for it. You will probably love the change. 

 

hell, it even increased my productivity, as it feels much better to type on a mech KB.

Life is really challenging. I don't always suceed: )

Personally I like good old cherry and for me the blues

I'm the other way around. I don't like the increased travel of mechanical keyboards and I especially do not like the racket the keys make. However, mechanical keyboards are more reliable, last longer, and pretty much immune to keyboard bounce. If they just weren't so darned noisy...
