I've been having this problem with my PC where it will randomly crash. The screen displays the current image until my PC goes into sleep mode. USB power goes through, fans spin, fan RGB and motherboard RGB stays on, and power supply fan spins. the only thing that appears to be inactive is my graphics card. The RGB light is off and the fans don't spin. This problem keeps happening more and more frequently. I reseated every thing except for the wireless card and CPU. I can't find a firmware update for my graphics card and the software always fails to find a new firmware update. The power and reset buttons stop working after it happens and I have to flip my power supply switch off to get it to boot again.

My specs are as follows,

AMD Ryzen 2700X (stock cooler),

16 GB G.Skill 3200 Ripjaws Memory,

Samsung 970 EVO M.2 NVME 500 GB SSD + 1TB Seagate HDD,

GIGABYTE 1650 Gaming OC 4G,

Corsair CX650M Power supply,

and an ROG STRIX B450F Gaming.

I think it either has something to do with my graphics card or my motherboard, but I don't know for certain. I can't seem to force it to happen it just happens.

Any help is appreciated!

Nice build I dig it.

Couple of questions.

Does the PC seem still active while the screen is hung up? Like you can get sounds or the HDD light looks blinking active?>

HDD indicator light does not continue to blink and the audio does not continue to be output.

So it's hanging up the entire system.

Mmk that would help me rule out VGA issue.

Have you updated the motherboard's bios?

If not, I would start here. Follow the directions carefully.

I think I already have the latest BIOS, but I can try to install/reinstall it.

You can check your bios version in Cpu-z and compare it what’s on Asus website

@Whiro tag or quote will do the trick

@Whiro and @ShrimpBrime I manually updated the BIOS. However, I do not know how to trigger the crash. So I will come back next time it happens. It could be a couple hours, days, months, or even years. Hopefully it's fixed though.

More tips are still appreciated.

@ShrimpBrime Sorry it's been awhile. But it still crashed and I haven't been using my PC for a couple of days. I ran a memory test and it said that my memory was fine. I just got another case fan (Don't think that it will do much). And I also uninstalled a bunch of my pre-installed/bloatware programs and thinking that maybe it might do something? My PC also has been powered off for a couple of days now so that might do something.

Hey, no problem. Forums are nice like that, plenty of time here!

Well, I'd have a look at the windows event viewer and see what kind of reports it spits out.

After quickly re-reading the entire thread, I'm coming up with ideas.

This comment in particular brought some interest, but gotta check with a question first.

When you say the power button stops working, do you try and hold it until the PSU shuts off, or pressing it quickly?

I have tried pressing the power button and reset button quickly and also tried holding the power button and reset button. Neither option works to reboot the PC. I don't know if there's a amount of time to completely reset my power supply but I have to flip the ON/OFF switch.
