Hi guys, I'm new to the Linus Tech Tips forum here, and I have a few questions.

I was looking into buying a PC, but hen I thought that it might be a good idea to try and build one for the first time. I was just wondering if anyone has any advice to give to a newbie PC builder? Thanks!

Take you time. If you can build a Lego set you can build a computer.

The only "hard" part is the thermal paste. If you can call it hard.

Watch a few of Linus's builds and you'll know everything you need.

Don't force things if they don't fit.

Take time with cable routing.

Use antistatic straps if you have carpet.

Welcome to the Forum. :D

You're going to love it here.

Just kidding get out while you still can!

My first tip is that you should make sure that all your components are plugged in. One time I forgot to plug in my HDD for a new build and it wouldn't boot.

Welcome. You came to the right place.

If you know anything about parts you can go here and make your build. Then post it in the New Builds and Planning section and you will get good criticism.

Cool, thanks! I have heard of www.pcpartpicker.com, but have never actually gone there. I'll go check it out right now. Also, I'm looking to budget somewhere around $1,000.
