Hello Guys,

I am trying to get a new rig. I bought already the RTX2070 Super as after Christmas I got in a fine deal. Now I am having problem to find what CPU to use, I heard that intel 10gen is coming, but I don't know if I should wait or go with ryzen already. So what you guys think?

Also, I wanted to build a mini or micro atx pc, but my video card is the Asus 2070 super dual Evo, which has a massive cooler. If anyone has advice I will be happy to hear.

intel 10nm for desktop is dead, so depending on ur monitor refresh rate i recommend a r5 3600 or 9700k.

Thank you, but why is that? If possible could explain or link some place with the info? I see in many reviews that fps intel still beating AMD.

And why you recommend a intel 9gen? ?

Btw my monitor is 240Hz

ya for 240hz u'd prolly wanna go intel, amd with fast ram comes close but still doesn't beat intel at gaming, just check out some of the techtuber channels for benchmarks, like LTT, gamers nexus, hardware unboxed etc.

In a few games an Intel equivalent might squeak out a few more FPS than a Ryzen,  but overall the new Ryzen is significantly better than their intel counterparts. I believe gamers nexus said AMD accounted for the VAST majority of CPU sales. They embarrassed Intel in 2019

Intel is dead to everyone right now lol. But do go for a r5 3600 though. Not sure what your budget is, so if you can afford it a 3700x is a good option as well.

My Build (5800X3D, RTX 3070)

disclaimer: i probably don't know what I'm talking about but I try to give the best advice I can

10th gen Intel desktop processors is set to be launched in the spring of 2020 (last I heard about it)

It will still be based on 14nm (same as 9th gen) but with all processors will have hyperthreading.

It will have the new LGA 1200 socket.

i3 = 4c/8t

i5 = 6c/12t

i7 = 8c/16t

i9 = 10c/20t

Bigger cache and slightly higher clock speeds compared to 9th gen.

While it is nice that all have received hyperthreading I do not expect 10th gen to be a lot faster than 9th gen.

It all depends on budget.

R5 3600 and R7 3700x has great performance and good value.

ITX + mATX will limit your selection of motherboards which usually means it will be more expensive.

Most small cases allows for full size GPUs with the help of moving the GPU to the back side of the motherboards with a PCI-E extension cable.

There could be issues with CPU cooling depending on what case you want.

Thanks! The budget is not tight I want some in the 3700x or 9700k, what I was thinking.

The GPU problem is not the length is the height 2.28 in / 5.8cm.

Thick ?

Ye that could be a problem in a ITX case but it will be fine in a mATX.

I would probably choose the 3700x just because of the lack of hyperthreading on 9700k.

But both 3700x and 9700K are good CPUs so I expect you will be happy and satisfied either way.

Thank you very much, I was thinking about waiting for the intel 10th gen as I still have my old rig and it is holding well.

I also read about the Zen 3 with Ryzen 4000 coming, that will be a good improvement, but is not sure. So I was very confused with these launch dates, as I don't need to buy it right away.

I don't know how much you know about it but Ryzen 4000 will be based on 7nm Zen2+ so it is basically an upgraded version of Ryzen 3000.

Last I read about it Ryzen 4000 will be launched in the second half of 2020.

zen 3 already has engineering samples and x670 is already in the works, expected to be late 2020, i wanna see if they can get rid of the fan on the x570 but it seems unlikely ?
