1. Budget & Location

I'd like the total to come to about 2,300 USD.

2. Aim

Heavy FPS, MOBA, Overwatch Gaming as well as Programming and Unity.

3. Monitors

I'm planning on one monitor. I would enjoy an extra monitor later on.

4. Peripherals

I will need a keyboard and mouse but those are a separate budget.

5. Why are you upgrading?

We lost our computers in a move, when most of our possessions were damaged and trashed. So this is less..upgrading and more starting over. We've saved up a few months for this so this is really exciting and big!

This is what I had to start with. I would really, really love to have RGB elements in it, and a white case!

The meshify comes in white.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Well, if you can’t get RGB, there may be an argument for big air instead of the AIO.  2 fan AIO is about the same cooling as big air and big air is quieter and cheaper.  One thought might be to do push/pull with your 280 AIO and put RGB fans as the extra two.  Produces some RGB, and lifts the AIO out of the night-as-well-just-go-air level.  You’d only be able to really see the rgb from one side of course, and it makes the rad pack kind of thick.

I'd put 20-30$ more to the ram budget and get 3600 Mhz

I'd scale down to 1 TB SSD, using MLC or TLC (around 120$) and maybe get a 6-8 TB mechanical drive (hgst nas, wd enterprise etc) etc

The motherboard can go down a bit, save 50-ish dollars there.

I'd consider a 4K monitor or at least a 3440x1440 at around 30-32",  you can find good ones at under 400$

here's example build without monitor

Thought I’d throw in an air option just because.  Notable is no case window.  Big air coolers aren’t pretty and they obscure rgb memory anyway.

Also I lowballed the motherboard a little which took the rocket out of the useful catagory.

There are no fans or RGB on this thing, because I know dick about rgb. but there’s $300 left on the thing to add all the lighted fans one could possibly want. (It will need some fans). I understand Corsair iCUE is well liked by those that like that stuff.
