Go to solution Solved by Gauzl,

Rule of thumb for radiators is 120mm for each component plus an extra 120mm, though people will disagree.

Nzxt phantom 410, i7 4770k, gtx 780ti would a dual 120mm rad be alright, im new to water cooling

What about price? You need to know how much OCing you want to do. If you don't want to OC and just have a clean cool system than a 240 is more than enough.

Fans have different noise profiles when up against radiators, depending on the FPI, design and thickness. But both the Scythe GTs and NF-F12s I have make a whiny noise on my H220 (a 14FPI, 25mm radiator) past 1200RPM. It may be the placement of the fins though.

probably the fins, my 1450 rpm gt's don't have a whiny noise, just the "woosh" noise when they get up into higher rpm's

Precisely. My 1850RPM GTs are silent on my Cooler Master 212X, but I have to undervolt them to 1000RPM to get the same noise level. The F12s also suffer from the issue as well. Must be the bloody rad.

So is there a sweet spot for fpi or thickness to keep this from happening, cuz these fans will be attached to a resevoir pump combo with a auto fan controller or should i do some googling
