Hello everybody, this is my first post so i hope that I'm doing it in the right place.

I want upgrade my current CPU Phenom x4 840 to Ryzen 5 2600 or 2600x. Some parts will be from my current PC.

This is what i choose:

MB: B450M Aorus

CPU: Ryzen 7 2600x

Memory:16GB DDR4 (2x 8GB) 3200mhz 16CL

PSU: beQuiet 430W (from current PC)
GPU: GTX 1050 (from current PC)

Will this work together?

Should i take 2600 or 2600x?

I know CPU doesn't support W7, but will this work if I install AMD chipset (USB) drivers provided on Gigabyte website?

Also want to mention that I'm not into overclocking anything, just basic usage. Stock cooler with CPU will be enough?

1) The stock cooler will be enough

2) All parts u said should function togther

3) I have doubts on the power supply, but it seems like it can handle ur PC,

4) search PCpartsPicker.com and add all your parts in that which will make a Part power consumption and give u a clear vision of the things if they support each other or not.

5) https://www.userbenchmark.com this site will give u the performance graph ur new PC will give u, u can compare ur old PC to this next new one.

6) I would suggest u buy a M.2 SSD and install Windows on that 250Gb should be enough.

Also you can get a free upgrade to Win 10 from their website. Just google search free Win 10 upgrade and make sure it’s a Microsoft website. Then you should be good! No need to back anything up, it will all be there once the update is done. But it wouldn’t hurt to back up anything important onto a thumb drive just in case.

Windows has closed all support for Windows 7. Sooo, Sorry to say this, windows 7 is dead like windows XP

just because they stopped supporting it doesn't mean you cant use it....

So many answers and so fast, thank you everyone. I just noticed i post wrong number with Ryzen. It suppose to be Ryzen 5 2600 not 7, but i hope it's still good.

I checked power on the Bequiet website and it showed around 290 power, so i guess will be fine. The GPU i have is powered through PCIe port, without PSU connection.

When installing W7, use the USB 2.0 port for your keyboard or mouse.

Can I just use already installed W7, or i need to re-install?

MB, RAM, and CPU will all work together just fine. If you want to OC then the general opinion seems to go with the non x CPU. If you don’t want to OC then the x version is just fine. It really depends on your need vs the cost.

That's really good information, thank you.

It will still work fine, just updating will be impossible, right? I will eventually upgrade, just not a big fan of W10 interface. I mean... I'll have to learn where-is-what again.

Just go to the link below and click the “Update now” button at the top. It will download an executable file. You can just launch it and it will walk you through the steps. Be sure if you have any important files you back them up. They should still be there when you’re done updating but it’s more for peace of mind. :)

Windows 10 isn’t that bad. They just took 7 and 8.1 and basically merged the good parts of both into one OS. It’s a bit different but you’ll eventually wonder why you stuck with 7 for so long. It just takes some time, but if nothing else you’ll be covered. Plus 10 is the last version they’ll make. They’re just going to release updates from now on.

Why not go with the Ryzen 5 3600??

Yes the stock cooler will be sufficient.

Just install Windows 10 from Microsoft website and run it unactivated. You can even purchase windows 10 keys fr cheap from websites like eBay, kinguin, scdkeys.

Didn't know about it. Now it make sense to upgrade for the final time.

3600 is too much jump in price (on the selling sites in my country) and has same clock speed like 2600x

Thank you everyone, if someone have anything to add, please do it. I'll be checking for a while.

It means, it's more vulnerable OS. Plus, what's the harm in Windows 10 when u can get original copy for free and That's the last version of Windows and u get life time support on it.

But 3600 is a significant upgrade in gaming performance when compared to a 2600x. Clock speeds don't matter much in AMD. The zen2 processors have a much better IPC.

you can get better motherboards. the msi b450 are the best b450 boards. look for gaming plus max, tomahawk max or a pro max

I read quite a lot about people choosing MSI over Gigabyte. So i think I'll switch too. By watching reviews on youtube, MSI boards has much more to offer than Gigabyte.
