So I have an Asrock B350 board https://www.asrock.com/MB/AMD/Fatal1ty AB350 Gaming-ITXac/index.asp#Overview

And was wondering if I could upgrade the NIC on board or not? Or would it just be easier to buy longer/better antennae for better signal?

I have a couple of laptop NIC but im not sure if those would fit in the desktop NIC socket

I upgraded my desktop with this:

Doubt it's much better than the Gigabyte Gaming 5 onboard wifi, but it made me feel better.

Onboard wifi/lan isn't terrible on most boards.  Didn't realize you only had the one slot, which Windows7ge clued me in to.  I'd leave things alone, you won't get much better internet.

It does not look like the onboard Wi-Fi is removable (such as a Mini-PCI_e slot) unless you're willing to go at it with a soldering iron and hot air. Since you've most likely installed a GPU in that one slot your only other option is wired or a USB Wi-Fi dongle.
