Defective motherboard?

Installed my new mobo today, the rgb lights were working, but nothing else. I couldnt even turn the pc on. Made sure all cables were in correct areas, i even swapped out some cables. Im at a loss here and would appreciate any help

It doesnt turn on, at all, well it did once after i did some troubleshooting but it booted to a black screen, had to turn it off and it was back to not turning on at all. What do you mean post? ASUS Tuf Z370 Plus, i7 8700k, rm850x. Really fucking weird cause the seller claimed it was working the day before

Have you tried jumping the board?

Is the PC plugged into an outlet or extension cord (may sound dumb but my friend couldn't start his PC fully cause of the extension cord)

Okay so it tried without my gpu and it launches w/o it lmfao? Launches into a black screen that is, but it doesnt turn off

How? Tried booting it and now it wont reenter bios

Got it working again. So why exactly do i need to update the bios?

Got it booting into windows, but it still wont boot with GPU seated for some reason. Bios is newest version

Nah, had to set the boot thingy in bios to pcie, that got it working
