DayZ Low FPS and Stutter on 780 Ti

Hey guys,

since the last patch for DayZ I have massive performance issues in-game.

It runs ok for about 5 minutes with 25 fps in cities and 50-60 outside. But after like 5 minutes frames drop from time to time, fps go down to like 10 and even my whole system seems to freeze every few seconds.

I have optimized the game as much as possible, 1080p low quality settings, edited config files for lower level of detail. Drivers up to date, running beta 334.67, even tried reinstalling once. I also tried setting cpu and gpu back to stock clocks and tested ram with memtest86, no errors.

My rig: 4930k, 16GB RAM, 780ti, 120GB SSD's, 1200W psu

Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

I had problems with the new beta drivers. It cut all my fps in games down in half, reverted back to 331.93 and been fine ever since.

It's still in Alpha dude... It's gonna have issues. Go back to the last stable drivers though.

Set your game to use your full cpu with  -cpu=high -cpuCount=4 -exThreads=7

That's the max the engine can use and also go into your DayZ.cfg and set these two lines to this

GPU_MaxFramesAhead=1;
GPU_DetectedFramesAhead=1;

Next go into your yourname.DayZprofile.cfg and put in this
shadingQuality=10;
shadowQuality=0;
sceneComplexity=200000;
shadowZDistance=1;
viewDistance=1000;

Also make sure that PostProcesing is off, it's really optimized right now and same with some other settings, mess with settings and seeing what gets you the best FPS.

When a guy with a 4930K CPU and a 780ti gets drops down to 25fps, and is experimenting with low settings at 1080p.... you know the developers are doing something wrong.

With this pc you should run it beetwen 30-60 fps stable. I've got GTX770 with beta drivers and no issues here.

Not doing anything wrong, it's how arma engines have always been.
