or

however, they are both old and outdated. if you have the budget, I'd recommend upgrading to the ryzen platform

PC is strictly for gaming. but if i can update to a Ryzen, thats fantastic, i thought those cpu's were wider...

Unfortunately you're limited to FM2+ CPU's which are now fairly obsolete and IMO not worth the upgrade.  Ryzen (AM4 socket) would not be an option without replacing your MB. 

 

If you're willing to build a new budget PC, even if you start with low-end components, Ryzen systems have a nice upgrade path in the future and will be a night and day difference from what you currently use.

 

If you want to stay under $300 cad and don't mind used, you can probably find something like a used Dell optiplex with a 5th or 6th gen i5 that would be a vast improvement.

I'm afraid you're not going to have a good experience with modern games with that CPU. May I ask what games you plan on playing?

Hey, there's absolutely nothing wrong with eve online, but I'm afraid you're not going to be able to play it at near respectable frame rates with that CPU/igpu =(

If you know something about overclocking I would buy A10-6800K or if you don't want or don't know how and why you need/want to overclock you could buy A10-6800B.^^

If you could find something of a 7 series FM2+ that would be even better, esp if it's of the "K" series.

I personally have an A10-7870K in a Crossblade Ranger that did well enough in it's day.

Don't know what board you have, just be sure it supports whatever you plan on getting.

 

For modern titles I have to say even that chip is lacking vs the current gen and will struggle at times.

 

Yes, with the FM2/FM2+ CPU series the GPU is intergrated but you can use an external GPU instead if you want.

For $300 you could do a Ryzen 3600/B450/16G 3000mhz ram

 

A GPU would be necessary. Your current platform is a dead end potato.

someday i will overhaul the entire system and get a ryzen, liquid cooling, ssd, etc... 

for now, baby steps
