Need advice Amd Budget build

Hi! I'm fairly new to building PC's and I recently put together a budget build. The build is a ASRock B450M PRO4 motherboard, AMD Athlong 200ge CPU, AMD Radeon RX560 GPU, 16Gbs of Corsair Vengance DDR4 Ram and a EVGA 500W power supply. I've been using this rig to run games such as apex legends, league of legends, COD Modern Warfare. The games can be pretty laggy as the frame rates drop pretty low. My question is, is the CPU holding back my GPU? I've been looking at upgrading the CPU in hopes of a smoother gaming experience. I do however run every game at the lowest setting possible to get the best out of what I have. Any input from someone who knows more about this topic would be ver appreciated!!

I'd say that the stutter and lag is because of your cpu because its only got 2 cores and 4 threads. I've got a pentium g4560 (2c,4t) and i get some stutter but not too much in some of those games. I'd say that an upgrade to maybe a ryzen 5 2600 would maybe get rid of the stutter but take that with a pinch of salt as im basing this off of prior knowledge. Just a side question, what speed is your ram and what other programs do you tend to have open while playing? Because especially on the lowest settings that i'd presume would be either 720 or 1080p, you'd still get atleast 30-40fps stable.

you can monitor cpu and gpu usage in task manager or with msi afterburner while gaming. if you see your cpu frequently staying at 100%, then you'd definitely benefit from an upgrade. amd recently launched the 1600AF, which is very similar to the 2600,  and its $85 on amazon. I would go for that.

The ram is 3000MHZ and only discord

I have however looked at the cpu usage and it stays a solid 98-100% the whole time even just sitting in the lobby of apex and the start screen of cod mw2. I had a feeling my cpu was possibly the cpu due to being only a dual core processor.

Yeah, that CPU is definitely the culprit IMO. As above, a good 6c/12t CPU upgrade should sort it out so that the constraining factor would then be your GPUs performance.

If your GPU is at 20%-50% usage you are in need of a CPU upgrade. Get a Ryzen 2/3600 and you should be fine

OP, it’s definitely your CPU causing the bottleneck. Be sure to update your BIOS to the latest rev. before installing your new processor to avoid any compatibility issues. The Ryzen 5 2600 would be perfect for you.
