Hey guys, i'm planning to upgrade my gpu. Want to play some other games than eSport titles. Any suggestions?

I currently have
Athlon x4 760k
1600mhz kingston 2x4gb
XFX R7 250 1GB DDR5
ASUS A58hm-k

Mostly will be playing some older titles like Total War Series and some eurotruck. I only have 768p monitor so yeah. I mostly play dota 2 and csgo.

I only want the gpu to be upgraded first. Will have to wait save this year for the new stuff i'm planning to buy.

My budget could be 100$ or could be bumped up to 120$

The various game genres have all been around for a while, and there will be games from all of them that are good.  They might not be very new though.  Eurotruck is a travel/driving sim.  I’m not sure what genre total war is in.

xplane: flight sim.  Extremely accurate aerodynamics characteristics.  NASA used it to develop the parachutes for the mars lander.  It’s got some commercial flight stuff that is not unlike eurotruck.  Might not be your cup of tea though.  There used to be free trials.  Might still be.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Life is like a bowl of chocolates: there are all these little crinkly paper cups everywhere.

If you're looking to buy new, probably the GTX 1650, but in that price range I'd definitely suggest you check the used market for RX 470/570s and 480/580s.

You'll mostly be limited by your CPU though in most titles, probably even with the cards I've mentioned, but they'd still definitely give a solid bump in performance compared to your R7 250.

3Dmark is a decent benchmark guide to go by:

https://www.3dmark.com/search#/?mode=advanced&url=/proxycon/ajax/search2/cpugpu/spy/P/1644/894/500000?minScore=0&cpuName=AMD Athlon X4 760K&gpuName=AMD Radeon R7 260X&gpuCount=0

I put in your CPU and the closest GPU to what you have that had results. So change the GPU to RX 560 and you will see the difference in scores:

https://www.3dmark.com/search#/?mode=advanced&url=/proxycon/ajax/search2/cpugpu/spy/P/1644/1132/500000?minScore=0&cpuName=AMD Athlon X4 760K&gpuName=AMD Radeon RX 560&gpuCount=0

Change to other GPUs to get an idea of the difference in performance will be and correlate with the prices and see what the best bang for your buck is.

Good luck!
