I've been wondering this for ages. Maybe you can help out here. :D

I have been studying up on AIO (All In One) devices, and it seems/looks similar to a laptop. But, not 100%.

I have seen some that had replacable CPU/GPU. I know some laptops do as well, but those are the higher register ones. (more money)

I understand the heat issue, laptops have that issue as well.

So, is buying a AIO anyway similar than buying a laptop or desktop? Indulge me...

They seem to me to have a great deal in common with a sort of quite large laptop that has grown rare.  They do pop up occasionally.  They’re extremely similar to older laptops.  It used to be that the drive towards extreme thinness wasn’t quite so desperate, and companies didn’t have to do things they didn’t really want to do in order to shave a millimeter.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Life is like a bowl of chocolates: there are all these little crinkly paper cups everywhere.

I know LTT reviewed a few of them, but like you said, they are rare these days. Only companies I see making them is Dell, HP, and Lenovo...

OK, thanks ;)

Well, I already have quite a beefy Desktop, so...

I do have an old laptop, but it's showing its age at 14yo (like a dog :P ) And I rarely ever use it anymore.

I’ve got a laptop, a desktop and a phone.  I find personally that the desktop and the phone are what I wind up using.  The laptop hasn’t been out of its bag for so long the battery is probably dead dead.  I have a friend who has a bajillion desktops of wildly differing vintages. An iPad, and a dumb phone. (Man won’t throw anything away. He’s got SPARKs fergawdsake)

laptops are merging into pads and pads are merging into phones.  It was the case for a while that desktops were merging into laptops.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

I have a Moto G4, and I brely ever use it...

I'm pretty much on my computer most of the time, but if my laptop could do a bit more, I'd use it more.
