I know Davinci Resolve, but I don't know how Final Cut works, so you would have to fill me in on how that works so I could judge if Davinci Resolve works in the same way.

Usually when working with 'difficult to work with' footage I just right press on the clip and press "Generate optimized media" and that takes some time (depending on your clip, storage device and CPU) and then you have footage that is super easy to work with. The 'optimized media' is quite large though, so a larger and resilient SSD is recommend for it.
