Yes it can be. You can just unplug it to avoid any accidents if youd like

When you install windows, you do it by creating a bootable USB and booting to it like you would a hard drive.

The software on the usb will give you the tools to install windows and alter drives.

 

Then when you're in your unactivated windows after it's installed, you sign into your ms account and transfer the license.

So I’ve got everything running and I go to activation, then troubleshooter, and I click on my old pc and it says “We can’t reactivate Windows on this device”.

Was your windows previously an upgrade to 10 from 7 or 8?

Or OEM possibly?

No idea, pretty sure I had to buy a key before. I don’t know why it would say that it’s linked to my account if it’s an OEM.

Figuring out where you got windows from in the first place would help immensely

I have no idea, it was so long ago. Should I just buy a code from Kinguin?

I can also get a free version of the education version. I don’t know how great that is though.

If you're a student or know any students you can get one for free through their school if they have a microsoft student advantage.
