Overclocking problem

Go to solution Solved by NeuraCode,

Okay I fixed the issue.

  • I reflashed the BIOS from 11 to 3 to 11.
  • I then overclocked the CPU/RAM
  • For some unapparent reason the RAM wouldn't overclock.
  • Reset the BIOS and overclocked again
  • BSOD
  • Enabled CMS
  • Everything works perfectly.

Long story short. This board is stubborn. I can't explain why this happens. It happens that's all I know. It's very buggy.

Hi,

So I have this issue where everytime I start my BIOS settings the BIOS resets. So I have no idea whether I'm still running on 2133Mhz or 3200Mhz like I should. Task manager doesn't show me RAM speed and CMD tells me it's running at 2133mhz.

Things I tried to save the BIOS

  • Only enable XMP
  • Enable XMP and manually overclock the RAM
  • Try different voltage settings while overclocking
  • Disable CSM / enable fast boot

So what RAM am I running at ?

What CMD Says:

FJlw8tL.png

What CPU-z Says:

nw1f58G.png

So I noticed that the frequency here is at 1600mhz which I guess is correct. But does that imply it's for both?

I'm really confused, please tell me what my RAM is really running at.

I can't tell what my BIOS says because I everytime I enter BIOS it resets.

I also want to overclock it differently, and my CPU too but no matter what I do the settings simply dont change. Please help me. I'm clueless.

DDR= Double Data Rate. 1600x2=3200mhz. What CPU and motherboard do you have?

Yeah I know but does the the CPU-Z one give me the correct information?

I'm using a x570 Gigabyte Aorus Elite

Those are JEDEC and XMP profiles, your current memory speed is displayed under Memory tab. As for restarting in BIOS goes you might want to update your BIOS (Be aware doing so though) I saw lots of people having the same exact problem with different ryzen boards so it seems like its related to RAM and board compatibility.

Welcome to the wonderful world of "Ryzen Meets RAM" never a dull moment

Yup, I had the same issue with my Asus board yesterday (b450 mind you, but still). It wouldn't apply any voltage settings for RAM or CPU. Had to downgrade BIOS than upgrade it again to get it to work. No idea why this would matter, but it works fine now...

Check to be sure the memory voltage is set to 1.35v. If not set it manually.

What cpu and board? Ryzen I assume..

See... this makes me not want to update my BIOS or OC my ram and leave it right where its at.
