CPU stuck at .77Ghz

Look under your Windows power plan to check that Maximum Processor State isn't set below 100%.

For some reason my CPU has been stuck at .77Ghz. I just got it to fluctuate percentage of use. It won't go above 22% though. Can anyone shed some light on what is happening/a fix? System specs are in sig.

Instructions for frustration management:  

1) Sit at desk.   2) Repeatedly slam forehead against desk.

 

I never said I was smart, just smart enough to be dangerous.

Newer cpu than mine but fairly similar board.  

It hasn’t happened to me (yet) I can make a general opinion.  There may be more specific advice around.


I’m assuming this is a new phenomena.  Cpu is old.  Paste might have given out.  It may have been associated with something either windows10 did when it autoupdated to something broken (this has happened several times with my machine) or that you did when you updated to something broken.  I don’t trust win10 at all lately.  I’m desperately regretting updating to it.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.
