Hey! For some reason my CPU temps fluctuate extremely quickly and for seemingly no good reason. If I just open a new tab in a browser, it jumps from 45 degrees C to 60 for a short time.

Any idea why this is and should I worry? 3700X on stock cooler.

Also, while booting up the fan ramps up a lot.

I think that's pretty normal. My 9900k can fluctuate 5 degrees quite rapidly and can spike in temp until the fan catches up to bring the temps back down.

All these issues are within normal operating specs for Ryzen 3000. I would be more concerned if the fully stressed out load temps go near 90C. You need to adjust the fan curve so the fan doesn't ramp up and down so much. I could be as low as 40C and hit 53C just from browsing the web. When I load up Blender it will jump up to 64C and guessing maybe even 73C when Windows is loading up. Prime95 load temps didn't get any higher have 70C so I stopped worrying about it.

Did you mess with the thermal paste before putting the cooler on? And how quickly does it go from 45c to 60?

Less than 2 seconds

I had some trouble installing it and it did glide around a little but I don't think the thermal paste was affected.

Thanks!

Yeah the fan ramping up and down constantly can get very annoying. I'll adjust the fan curve.

15 though?

Well mine is on water since you're on a stock cooler I wouldn't worry about it.

Turbo boosts to Max to execute tasks quickly, then powers down when done.

The fan is PWM, and when not hot it sound slower. When it senses temperature increase, it ramps up. This takes a moment.

This is why you see the spikes. Normal.
