help choosing mobo for 6700k

hi all,

I'm replacing my PC case, going from mid tower to SFF.

I need a motherboard to fit a micro atx case (Corsair 280x or similar size).

I don't need to overclock so don't need z170, also don't need built in wifi but I would like it to have m.2 as I have an nvme drive.

So far found this one:

and this

Any others you know/would recommend?

Cheers

Hard to recommend new motherboards for last gen hardware, the prices are just too high.

eBay has the best options, and since you have a 6700K you should opt for a Z170 or Z270 board. It'll give you access to faster ram speeds as well as overclocking.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

How many watts do I needATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

Honestly since it is such an old platform and would require the use of a used motherboard it should really come down to what is available on the used market.

I would look on ebay etc and pickup a second hand one, you could get a z170 or even z270 for a good price

Will I need a z170 to achieve 2800mhz? I would have thought all boards could achieve that as it's  not that fast

Yes, lower end boards like B150 and H110 won't feature XMP profiles for speeds that high, usually they would go up to 2666 at the very most and the common "high" speeds were 2400.

These were the first gen consumer boards with DDR4 after all.
