AMD Conundrum

I know that if all things in a system are equal a Ryzen 3600 gives slightly better FPS that a 2700X. But what if they're not equal? With current pricing at Micro Center I can afford a 3600 and RX 5700 or a 2700X and a 5700XT.

 

For purely gaming which way would you go? Any insights are gratefully received.

I would go 3600 and 5700XT. You can OC a 5700 to be the same as a 5700XT

Do you play at 144hz? Do you consider 60 fps bad? If you don't mind higher frames than 60 fps then 2700x/5700 xt and 1440p resolution would be good choice.

For gaming 3600 is better.

But GPU matters more in games, so the XT is better overall.

3600 is a superior gaming CPU compared to the 2700X and the 5700 can be bios flashed to a 5700 XT. Feel like it's a no-brainer to be honest.
