PSU has a whining noise

Like a humming?  Coil whine is not impossible.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

 

Life is like a bowl of chocolates: there are all these little crinkly paper cups everywhere.

which model is it ? some models are prone to more audible coil whines than others , depends on their topology , but the coil whine itself is not dangerous

to explain it simply

 

you likely have a double forward thermaltake. due to hard switching the transformator starts to "whine", otherwise known as coil whine

 

it's nothing dangerous, just annoying
