Hello guys,

First of all I would like to say merry Christmas and hope you are all having a good time!

So in 2020 I'm planning to build a new PC. My current PC is an i5 6400 with a GTX 1060 6GB.

I'd like to upgrade to something significantly more powerful, and at that point I'd rather build an entirely new PC.

Budget? £2000-£3000, no real budget.

I'll be using it for gaming (games like Cyberpunk, Death Stranding), 3D Modelling, CAD, Rendering, VFX and CFM simulation work.

I was thinking maybe Threadripper with a 2080ti? Not sure.

I'll keep the same PSU - 650W Seasonic Prime.

I'd also like it to be as silent and stealth as possible. No RGB, none of that fancy stuff. A nice, clean build that's silent.

Where should I start? Or should I wait for new releases?

Thank you!

The current crop of Ryzen 9 cpu are more appropriate if gaming is important.

There is always new and better tech just around the corner. Nothing imminent at the moment, but Intel rumors predict anywhere from January to May. Given the apparent difficulties Intel has had moving off of 14nm, I wouldn't count on any of the rumors being accurate.

AMD probably won't have anything new before Q4 2020.

You should decide when you want the new system and go ahead then. Otherwise There will always be something that marketing promises is vastly superior and immanent.
