So pretty much, ive got an i5 7500. But only a gtx 660. Would it be more worth to just disconnect the 660 and use the onboard graphics? Given it is a relatively new CPU, the onboard graphics may just be better than what the graphics card is giving me. But then i would probably have to only use a single monitor and i usually use my second for watching tv or doing work etc. Any opinions are welcome, But also ill be getting a better GPU in mid January so it may just be worth the wait

You can try, but if you're asking about gaming performance; the GTX 660 will be much better than Intel onboard graphics.

Right okay thanks, wasnt too sure because obviously the 660 is an older card. But yeah thanks, and there is also the thing with the montiors

I don't understand what you are saying with the second screen thing:

You are not giving me the context you have, so to me there is no reason you can't just connect multiple monitors to the GPU.

I'm not totally stupid, you don't have to treat me like I am.

Of course I understood that, but why can't it be connected to the GPU? Missing connectors? (e.g. one of the screens needs VGA, or both need HDMI and the GPU doesn't have that.. etc.).

That is the context I am missing, which I said in my previous post (the part you conveniently removed while quoting me).

Okay well I thought the context was pretty clear but my bad if it was confusing. So pretty much what i was wondering was: if A. the built in graphics would be better than what im getting from my 660 - then B. if they built in graphics are better would it even be worth it considering if i disconnect the graphics card to use the built in graphics instead i would then not be able to use multiple monitors. So if the trade of for (possibly) better graphics would be worth not using a second monitor.
does that clear it up?

GTX 660 is way better, for gaming at least.

Just looking at one benchmark, GTA V. You get around 50fps on 1080p High settings, while Intel HD Graphics 630 (what is in the CPU) gets around 30fps on 720p medium.

Spoiler

A GTX 660 has multiple outputs for multiple screens, you can even often turn on the integrated graphics in your motherboard to use that for any secondary monitors.

I'm still not understanding the issue here.

A GTX 660 has much better gaming performance and multiple outputs for multiple screens. Seems like the right option, unless I am seriously stupid and not seeing something here.

Yeah no i was pretty sure the graphics would be better on the GPU but i figured it doesnt harm to ask because im still new to PCs etc. But you definitely answered what i was looking for so thanks. I mean i am going to be getting a new GPU in probably a week or so anyway so im not even too concerned but yeah figured why not ask ?‍♂️
