So I am in 8th grade and am now looking what to get for my first smartphone (Yeah kinda late) and since Chinese phone brands have phones that are selling so cheap, I decided on a few options but my number one is the Xiaomi Mi A3 (about $165 on Amazon as of now). From what I can tell, specs are nice for the price (64GB, 4GB RAM, Good cameras, AMOLED Display) but my one concern is how will it work with carriers here in the United States. My family carrier is AT&T and I just wanted to know if the Mi A3 has full support for connection and network. I think it does based on the specifications of other Chinese phones. If anyone has any experience, some insight would be appreciated.

I got Mi A3. I switched to this from a LG G4 with 1440P display. I notice low resolution screen but I honestly do not care. My main issue always has been battery life, I used a 9000ma battery with my G4 and even that was barely enough for 2 days. Camera is not compareable to G4, G4 shoots much faster and captures colors better and most importantly has OIS. As for carriers go, check if your carries use one these bands, if they do it should work just fine.

Amazon reviews has your answer.

In general, if you get a Chinese phone from Amazon or well known US retailer, it should work with carriers on US GSM networks.

The Mi A3 is great for the price on all aspects except for the odd 720p resolution screen. As a side effect of that, it has excellent gaming performance and battery endurance.

It is a great phone for people on a budget looking to squeeze the most practical benefit out of every dollar.

Yeah I definitely would consider the Mi A3 as a no-brainer if it had a FHD display (although AMOLED I hear is a nice feature). My other options are the Redmi Note 8, which is extremely similar except with a slightly larger display and 1080p IPS LCD and 2MP Macro. I also am considering OPPO R11s as it is in the price range and also seems to pack a lot of nice features like a 1080p AMOLED and good camera. But that 3200mah battery seems kind of underwhelming to Redmi Note 8 4000mah battery. In your opinion, which would be better, the R11s or Redmi Note 8? Also, if I were to buy an R11s, would it be up-to-date with Android? Sorry if I am asking too much. ?

You seem to know what your doing. I dont mind the questions

The R11s was released end of 2017...

Its stuck on Oppo's old interation of Android which is at Oreo.

The chipset is basically the Mi A3's SD665 but consumes more power. Which does not bode well with the smaller battery.

4GB of RAM is only sufficient.

I would avoid if you are a heavy user or dont take particularly good care of the battery.

The Redmi Note 8 is, as you said, basically a Mi A3 with 1080p IPS screen and MIUI instead of Android One. Battery life is also excellent.

You might want to consider the Galaxy M30/M30s if you like a beautiful screen and BIG battery. As long as its price is not far off.

Whatever you pick, I suggest getting the one that offers more RAM. Do not touch if it has less than 4GB. Obviously your have your own priorities.

Okay. Thanks for all the help! Also, a phone deal just popped up on Amazon and I might jump on it. $140 for UMIDIGI F1 (128GB, 4GB RAM, FHD+, 5150mah battery, solid camera).
