Will my new rig be enough? Help

the 1050 TI I saw was getting around 270 FPS with the games I listed

With a better CPU probably. It's the core 2 duo that's the problem

Again, so this graphics card is supposed to be better?

It's way better.

Assuming you're sticking with the $250 budget, at most $80 will go to the RX 570. That leaves you plenty for a 4th gen i5 and cheap H81 motherboard to go with it, and some DDR3 to toss in as well.

Hello,

I am currently running a crappy laptop with an Intel Core 2 Duo and Nvidia Geforce 320M graphics.

As the Christmas season comes, I am currently upgrading to a new rig that has 10x the power than my current one, here are the specs:

Intel Core I5 Processor

Nvidia Quadro P5000 Graphics Card

So, with the new Quadro P5000, I want to run very simple games like Minecraft, Roblox, Rocket League and similar.

Is this new rig overkill? About how much FPS would I get running medium/high settings on this new pc?

Please let me know so that I know if this is a good graphics card for the games that I plan to play.

Quadros are workstation cards. They can run games, but the drivers aren't optimized for it. If you include a budget, I'm sure someone can come up with a suggestion for something better (also, which i5?).

you really shouldn't get a Quadro for gaming, they are meant for production not gaming. look at Nvidia's GTX line or AMD's RX line. Though for those games you would be perfecting fine on just the integrated graphics of the i5 assuming its a modern i5. But if you want to get a proper gpu, I would recommend either the Nvidia GTX 1650 Super or the AMD RX 5500 XT 4gb. They are budget oriented cards but they will do amazing for those games and will be able to play most modern games at 1080p 60fps med-high settings.

@Eigenvektor Yeah, I am using the cloud gaming service Shadow to run this. I really don't have the money for a full rig right now and they run games on the Quadro P5000. I have no idea what I5 it is, but it also could end up being the Xeon E5-2620 V4. I am not a video editor I just need something to run VERY lightweight games on (ex. Minecraft, Roblox, Rocket League)

@themaniac I am using a cloud gaming service (Shadow.tech), so you get what you get.

Ok, I'm confused. Are you actually buying a machine with those specs, or is that like a virtual machine you can "rent" on their servers, which then streams the game to whatever device you have at home?

@Eigenvektor It is a cloud gaming service where it is like a virtual machine where you can control a version of windows with a software on your computer and then, obviously, game on it. So, they call it "cloud gaming", but it is just a remote version of windows that you are controlling with good specs. Is this worth it? I really have no money right now for a professional rig and I am getting some cash from some friends this Christmas, enough to get about a year's worth of this service. I think they have some servers with the GTX 1080 on them as well. Though, if the only have the Quadro P5000, can it at least game very basic stuff like Minecraft?

you had said that you were upgrading to a new rig, which implies that you're actually buying a PC for yourself instead of using a cloud gaming service.

I recommend building a cheap PC around $500 because you wouldn't need much for your gaming needs you listed.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Your gaming experience, especially the latency will be terrible over an internet connection. Whatever you're paying for this service, would be better suited to be put into a fund for another computer down the line.

Yep. The experience depends a lot on how good your Internet connection is. I don't know how much you're paying for this service for a year, but a cheap gaming machine might be a better deal.

How much does the service cost? I'm assuming it's a monthly subscription

The Quadro will do a good job for gaming but you might be able to manage a more economical solution after saving a little money

I think you'll be disappointed with what you get out of it.

Where are you located, and what were you going to be paying for this service? I have helped build a lot of discount systems for people, and I could at least give you some pointers on Aliexpress and eBay (if you are in the US), to piece together something that will be a good experience.

Ok, Thank you Eigenvektor. The service is 12.99 a month and my internet is 5G running at about 20MBPS on Wireless. The problem is, I would just get a good graphics card and stuff it in a crappy pc, but I have no PC to through it in, meaning it would cost me at least $250 to get something decent and then in a couple years it would just go to waste because of new games and hardware wear.

If you build yourself a $500 PC with all current gen parts, I doubt you'll be disappointed for the next few years to come. I have a PC with parts from 10 years ago and I still play modern games on it. A Ryzen 3 1200 and an RX 570 from eBay would do super well in the games you listed.

Also hardware wear won't be reducing the performance over time so don't worry about it

Don't scoff at $250, believe it or not that's still a decent budget.

That pairing right there would be pretty good for 1080p and the games you're looking at, and it's right around $250 shipped.

Anything more than $1500 is shitty value for gaming. Anything less than $500 is shitty value for gaming.

Anything 500-1500 is a good sweet spot for gaming builds.

I've seen this so many times. A lot of people ask what builds to get on $300, $200, sometimes as ridiculous as $100 budget. Seriously, just save up or get a $300 Xbox/PS4. They can be $250 or $200 when on sale.
