I've gone through a few threads here, but nothing seems to be helping me out.

I'm upgrading my cpu from an i5 9600F to an i9 9900k on my ASUS prime z390a mobo. When I boot it up the GPU ramps up to full speed and I get no display and the mobo light gets stuck on VGA as the post issue. I've done all the suggested tips I could find and nothing seems to be working for me.

I swapped my old cpu back in and it boots perfectly. Could the 9900k be defective, or am I missing something? Any help would be appreciated.

I've also updated my bios

Not sure if it helps as its really the most basic advice,  but did you reset CMOS?

sometimes motherboards just act weird after bios updates / changing hardware,  etc.
