Could you make your question more specific? Your motherboard defines what you are building you cant put a new cpu in an old motherboard same with ram

No, because most laptops use parts that are uncommon on Desktops. Many components are soldered on rather than slotted in.

 

Companies like Eurocom offer more modular Laptops (such as LGA 1151, MXM, M.2 and SO-DIMM) but do cost a premium and are often bulky, and even these laptops use unique motherboards that are no available in the market.
