Does anyone know if the EVGA 2080 Ti XC2 Ultra Gaming is different than a standard 2080 Ti?

GamerBlake

Hey techies,

Does anyone know if the EVGA 2080 Ti XC2 Ultra Gaming graphics card is any different in any way (aside from higher price) than a standard “default” 2080 Ti?

It costs $250 more than some of the cheaper 2080 Ti GPUs and I’m wondering what that $250 extra cost is for?

Any help would be appreciated. I ask because I have a feeling I will be getting one from my family for Christmas & Birthday present but I don’t know why it’s more expensive than say an MSI 2080 Ti Ventus? ??‍♂️

Are they not both 2080 Tis? Shouldn’t they be close to the same price regardless of manufacturer (aside from maybe $50 more or less for more/or better fans)?

Thanks! :)

P.S. Here is the link to the card I am talking about:

the XC ultra is a 3 slot card and the founders is a 2 slot card. It should be a stock PCB though.

The 2080ti XC2 ultra is a 2.75 slot card which means the radiator is much thicker and runs cooler. I have this card in my PC and it doesn't get above 65 C.

I haven't done my research specifically on the ventus but generally they are the same chip. In EVGA's case the black edition is the only 2080 TI which has a different chip (lower tier).

In the grand scheme of things it doesn't matter much, the ventus might run hotter and you can't overclock it as high, but it's still a 2080 TI.

Do you know if it will fit in a midtower case? I currently have a 1070 Ti (double slot) in there but I’m using a mod tower: Here is what my case looks like inside (ignore the messy cables).0752B79F-F638-4CF0-9141-7FC823EC1FF8.thumb.jpeg.7662fac8ded143bda9742d39479fa99b.jpeg

The saddest part about that is that it’s only on there as a reminder to MYSELF that it’s tempered glass and I can’t be rough with it ?

I had a different tempered glass case back in 2013-2014 and I set it down on my hardwood floor and it blew up so I want to make sure that doesn’t happen again ?

Here is a better pic, I’m just wondering do you think it will fit? My current card is a double slot 1070 Ti turbo.

It looks like it will be fine, I have a mid tower case as well.  I also have a sound card on the bottom pci slot. The only I can't really see is make sure you have a fan in the front blowing air under the gpu. It does require 2 8pin power connectors, what wattage is the PSU rated for?

Oh yeah I have a lot of fans. My PSU is a Corsair RM850x 850W 80+ Gold Fully Modular PSU.

I have 3 fans in front sucking air in and 1 on top blowing out and 1 in back blowing out.

Yeah that looks great, 850w is plenty. I upgraded from a 1070 to a 2080ti and it was pretty massive jump in performance. Enjoy your (hopefully) new card!

Here's a picture that will give you an idea how it fits. Look at the expansion slots on the back of the PC. I know it's not great quality.

Ohh ok so it looks like basically it’s about the same size as the 1070 Ti with the addition of the lit up part being the extra space? Like without the lit up part there it looks like it would be the same size as my 1070 Ti.

Oh! Before I forget..I had one last question.

My cpu is an 8700K OC’d to 4.9ghz - will that bottleneck this gpu?

Pretty much, just look at your case and count 3 expansion slots and its a bit less than that.

Your 8700k @4.9 is still a great CPU.

Thanks! :) It’s nice to finally get the 144fps I need to make my 144hz monitor display games buttery smooth. ? It was annoying getting 70-80fps on RE2 (2019) and not getting the full performance of my monitor. Things look much smoother now.

I was worried at first because only one of the two fans was spinning but I found out the second one doesn’t kick in unless temps reach a certain point so I had to run Timespy Extreme to make sure it worked. ?
