I have the ISO and a USB storage device. How do I get the ISO to the USB device and it to be bootable? Not Dual booting.

If you can't mount a USB, you probably shouldn't my fiddle de-deing around with Linux.

I like to use http://www.linuxliveusb.com/ to install Linux onto my USB sticks. They even have a guide.

I have the ISO on a usb storage device, whenever I plug it in to the back of my PC and turn it on, it just sits there and does nothing. What am I doing wrong?

Did you do something like copy/paste it to it?

Did you try to pop up the Boot Device screen and select it? It's usually F8, F10, or F12.

Okay, whenever I turn off my PC, I plug in the USB. Then it freezes at the 'Acer' screen where it gives me the options

1. f12 manual boot

2. del. setup

 

But if the USB is plugged in, nothing works. If I unplug it and then press del. it goes to setup/BIOS. And if I plug it in while i'm in the BIOS then it becomes unresponsive until I unplug the usb and then I can change settings.

 

What's wrong?

Yes it's that PC. But it has the option to boot from a USB.

Try "burning" the image to it with PowerISO. Finally moving off XP?

Please tell me you're putting Xubuntu 12.04 LTS on it.

I don't know anything about Linux so I'm trying Ubuntu. What's the difference? Also, PowerISO requires a key. :(
