Raid 0 HDD Lagging

This may not be the sub-forum for this, but what can I do to keep my games from lagging (freezing but still running) when the HDDs in raid 0 spin up? ie. Spintires will run without (to my ears) the HDDs running then the game with freeze and I hear the HDDs spin up and after a good 5 to 10 seconds the game continues.

Instructions for frustration management:  

1) Sit at desk.   2) Repeatedly slam forehead against desk.

 

I never said I was smart, just smart enough to be dangerous.
