Are you planning to sli?

No point getting such an expensive cpu cooler or an i7 over an i5 when what you're doing is gaming.

Why such an expensive motherboard?

Dominator platinums are a waste of money. Get some cheaper ram.

WD Blacks aren't worth the money for anything but the warranty. Barracudas are quite cheaper and only slightly slower.

The 780 ti is a bad value. I'd suggest getting a 780 or 290 instead.

Why such a large case? What are the 3 fans for?

nope

u guess.. i just like the 100i

because i really liked it when linus unboxed and i just think it's the best one.. of course there are cheaper and maybe better i just like this one lol

yea but the lightning effect that it has and i guess the fact that linus uses them in all of "high and" pc builds is also the reason

wd blacks aren't but i have one in my pc and i wolud just be adding this one to the build

maybe but in the long run little better.. i'm kinda thinking 3+ years before buying a new one so why not go all the way

because i generally love coolermater cases and the fact that the haf x is the only case that can measure to the 900d and it's easier to fill it up whit parts

one forthe back exhaust, 2 for the h100i replacement

The psu is very much overkill if you don't plan to sli. A decent 600w is already plenty.

Are you getting the motherboard just for the looks? Btw, the only point to get a more expensive motherboard is for the build quality and the features. If you're not using the features, it's just a waste of money like buying something you never use.

Ram is ram. Brand does not at all affect performance. You're spending ~$260 more on the the looks of the ram alone with dominator plaitinums.

Are you saying you already have the 4TB hdd?

'Going all the way' is not what you're doing. Going all the way would be to get a 4960x and 4 780 Ti's in sli. What you're doing is just spending more than you need and not getting that much performance for your money. It's better to spend less and get what you need to use the extra money to upgrade more often.

Such a large case will look awkward being so empty. A smaller case would be more suitable to make it look more complete with less parts.

A NF-S12A would be more suitable for rear exhaust. As for the cpu cooler, something like a 212 Evo is much cheaper and will provide ample cooling for a gaming cpu oc.

This would be my recommendation: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/2QnVH

and to save the extra money for upgrades as you need it and better/cheaper parts come out.

No of course not just for the looks.. i plan to overclock the cpu and ram.. and it has a lot of hdd/ssd ports

i know .. i could get corsair vengeance 16gb for 165$ but.. i like the platinums.. it feels.. "platinum" heh

i have a 2T green wd ... 80% full

good point.. i have about a month to decide.. il let you know :)

i have a Coolermaster HAF 912 Plus and i could fit all this in to it but i guess the first time I saw the "Haf X" i just wanted it.. don't know why..

And for the psu .. i know.. but it's Modular, it has the corsair link thing, it has the low rpm and it's slick looking...

There's little to no point to oc'ing ram. It just takes up more power and raises instability when what you're going for is gaming performance.

As for oc'ing, the 212 Evo is plenty for an ample gaming oc.

How many drives are you planning to use?

I'd suggest planning later then. ~2-3 days at most before you buy. Parts and prices change frequently so any parts list you come up with now will likely be obsolete by the time you're ready to buy.

It sounds like you're getting parts just because you feel like it instead of just getting parts to make a good system or one that looks nice. Expensive and premium parts and nice but I can tell you it's far from guaranteeing you that you will have a nice looking rig and that you will likely look back and facepalm at your waste of money of a build.

Corsair link is just a gimmick more than anything else imo.

What I recommended is semi modular which only has the cables you will need to use anyway preattached. The capstone looks more slick imo with no blatant labeling on it.

true.. i managed to fry my ram once lol

the one that i have and the 4t one that i'm gonig to by for the files and the ssd for the boot and 1-2 applications..

that is actually true lol.. it's like my dream machine but yea i would probably facepalm after like a month ..

I'll look in to the psu thing.. i have time to decide on that .. thats like the easy part lol

If you want to, go ahead.

Also, the heatsinks on ram don't do much to help cooling anyway even for oc'ing. Memory generally doesn't get that hot at all.

The 3TB drive has more gb/$. If you want more storage, I'd just grab more 3TB drives.

Why 7 over 8?

You'll see better performance with 8.

Some people don't like the UI with windows 8 and find it easier to continue using 7 (if they've previously used it) rather than switching to 8. I think windows 8 is more suited to tablets/touch devices than desktop PC's.

Two more things..

1. Win 7 or 8

2. Kingston HyperX 3K 240GB 2.5" Solid State Disk .. yes or no ?

1. Whichever you prefer. If you don't care, Windows 8 is better.

2. It performs noticeably the same to the one I suggested and is quite a bit more expensive.

Yeah, that's fine. You'd need a case that supports taller cpu coolers like a Define R4 or Arc Midi R2 though.

The Dark Rock 2 is 166mm tall and the N600 only supports coolers up to 160mm tall.

One more thing .. for gaming.. is the 4670k better then the 4770k.. I mean the + for the 4770k is that it has hyper threading but let's be honest.. games don't

use cpu that much..
