New Computer Monitor

So I have a bit of extra money coming up for the holidays. I'm looking for a new monitor, mainly for work. I pretty much stare at my computer screen all day. My question is what is a good solution for a web developer who spends most of his time writing code? I do graphic design as well so I would like a monitor with good color. I'm not looking for a multiple monitor setup, although I do miss mine. I find myself multitasking quite a bit so and ultra-wide may be a solution. Two monitors just takes up too much space on my desk. I game, not competitively and not particularly FPSs.

Do I focus on higher resolution and not worry about the refresh rate? Is there a "best of both worlds?" I have about $600 to $1000 USD to spend. Can you post links to good monitors? Thanks in advance.

PC Setup

Motherboard: ASRock Z390 Phantom Gaming 4-IB

CPU: Intel Core i7-9700K @ 3.60GHz

Graphics: Nvidia RTX 2070 8GB GDDR6

RAM: 16GB DDR4

In my personal opinion, 1440p 144hz monitors are the sweet spot for both gaming, and productivity. There aren't too many 1440p, 144hz ultrawide monitors, but there is this one from ASUS that looks pretty decent. It's 32", which gives you plenty of real estate for multitasking.

If you really have your heart set on an ultrawide monitor, this is a pretty good looking option. It's 35" diagonally, and still 1440p, but you sacrifice a bit of refresh rate (100hz as opposed to 144).

Main PC:

AMD Ryzen 7 5800X • Noctua NH-D15 • MSI MAG B550 Tomahawk • 2x8GB G.skill Trident Z Neo 3600MHz CL16 • MSI VENTUS 3X GeForce RTX 3070 OC • Samsung 970 Evo 1TB • Samsung 860 Evo 1TB • Cosair iCUE 465X RGB • Corsair RMx 750W (White)

Peripherals/Other:

ASUS VG27AQ • G PRO K/DA • G502 Hero K/DA • G733 K/DA • G840 K/DA • Oculus Quest 2 • Nintendo Switch (Rev. 2)

Laptop (Dell XPS 13):

Intel Core i7-1195G7 • Intel Iris Xe Graphics • 16GB LPDDR4x 4267MHz • 512GB M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD • 13.4" OLED 3.5K InfinityEdge Display (3456x2160, 400nit, touch).

Got any questions about my system or peripherals? Feel free to tag me (@bellabichon) and I'll be happy to give you my two cents.

I do like 144hz. I think I might not go with an ultrawide and save myself some cash. The curved aspect is something I didn't think about but I like and I think 32" is enough for multitasking. Thanks for the info.

Take a look at these too then :

LG 27" IPS for 380$

LG 32" VA for 400$

Be adviced that all 1440p 144Hz 32"+ displays are VA including that ASUS one so they may have slightly worse color reproduction than IPS ones but they have deeper blacks and less backlight bleed in return.
