CPU Recommendation

Tom MM

Hey,

I'm looking for a CPU recommendation for a build budget of around $860 (Needs to have on-board graphics).

The build is for general use\light gaming...

Thank you very much

2400g or 3400g depending where you're located/pricing

Why does it need to be an apu?

the r5 2600 can be found for really cheap right now.

The 2600 does not have integrated graphics. So it will not work for OP.

Depending on the games, a 3400G would more than likely be fine. What games are going to be played on the system?

Nothing too heavy, things that an APU should be able to run I believe

You can get alot with budget you have so idk why you would go for an apu which will give less performance.

I built a R5 3600+Powercolor rx5700, 16gb 3600mhz dram etc (120$ish for case and PSU) for that price, but since you NEED onboard graphics, get a 89-99$ Gigabyte Z390 UD (arguably one of the best and few worthwhile cheaper Z390 boards) and a 9400F,  9600K .  Eitherway this will place you nicely to upgrade CPU to 9900k later down the line instead of having to upgrade whole system in 1-3 years, and you should be able to configure a build for same price i spent on ryzen system

Use 230$ 1660 Super or used Vega 56 card if prices here are still too high and you don't need a midrange GPU (for 144hz 1080p etc)
9600k.thumb.png.ffe9a764d14ec5bd6c1c5fb2c6a3150b.png

NOTE: The Storage, Case, and PSU is all generic examples here no need to copy them....
Storage, 1 boot + handful of games/documents, and 2tb hdd for rest of storage.  Alternatively 1tb ssd could work for 100$ if you dont need 2.5tb or hate HDDs
Case (this is a subtle silent case, if you want higher airflow or RGB/Tempered glass look into Thermaltake at this pricerange imo)
PSU anything about 6more and 80+ should be fine for future expansion

The 9400f does not have an igpu

I'd recommend one of these three: Ryzen 5 3400G, Ryzen 5 2400G, or i3-9100. They're all very similar in CPU performance. The AMD GPUs are much faster though, so if you're going to be using the integrated graphics for anything other than Adobe suite, the Ryzen CPUs will offer much better GPU performance (double or more). Don't buy the "F" class Intel CPUs, they will not have integrated graphics.

i5 9400 is a capable CPU, but not widely available in the US region at a reasonable price. Same GPU as the i3, but it's got two more CPU cores than anything else here.

AMD Ryzen 7 3700X | Thermalright Le Grand Macho RT | ASUS ROG Strix X470-F | 16GB G.Skill Trident Z RGB @3400MHz | EVGA RTX 2080S XC Ultra | EVGA GQ 650 | HP EX920 1TB / Crucial MX500 500GB / Samsung Spinpoint 1TB | Cooler Master H500M
