Everyday laptop under £500

Hey all!

After some advice. Looking at getting my father a laptop for Christmas he only uses it for general use streaming videos general internet surfing, checking email etc. Nothing special. budget of around £500 preferably to last a few years so newer gen CPU etc any ideas please fire them this way. 
any advice would be appreciated!

I have been looking for one of those too.

 

Something just for office work. I wont edit videos nor game on it. Just something with good track pad, light and that doesn't look ugly

thanks for all of your help, I ended up going for a Dell Inspiron 15 5000 with a 10th gen core i3 processor.
