PCI-SIG's OcuLink-2: Will it steal the thunder from Intel's TB3?

Results45

Oh the dodads one finds while surfing the web.

AFAIK PCI-SIG's rival to Thunderbolt ~ Optical Copper Link (aka OcuLink) ~ seem's to have slipped under this community's radar. It currently offers up to 16GT/s when paired with PCIe 4.0 and uses a connector akin to U.2 and Display Port (though flatter/elongated):

And for those wondering SuperMicro sells OcuLink-to-SATA cables:

Doesnt really use the USB C connector. Even if it were to be changed. I dont see why it would be adopted over TB3.

Especially now that TB3 is being i corporated into USB 4 and is opening up.
