No, change the top and rear to exhaust.

have changed thermal paste and reinstalled the cooler, noticed the backplate screws were alittle loose so i fastned them, changed top fan to exhaust and now i get idle temp 28*C.

Hello, i recently moved my system in to a new case ( Fractal design r4) and i am getting very high temperature readings on the cpu with the NH-D14 cpu fan.

i also have 2 fans in front as intake 1 in top as intake and 1 on the side as intake and 1 in the back as outtake.

 

(i have the FX8320 cpu )

i dont understand why im getting around 40-50*C at idle.

any ideas ?

 

EDIT: Read that the max safe temp is 62*C for FX prosessors

Make the top exhaust since hot air rises using the top as intake is not helping

Thats perfectly fine. Try running prime 95 and see what the max it gets to is.

 

Also look in your bios for cpu fan settings. Maybe its running the fans slow

maybe ur d14 isnt properly seated. screws are tight enough?

Ambient room temperature, change fan configuration, poor heatsink mount; these are things to consider.

Air doesn't tend to get effected much by natural convection in PC cases, the air is hardly ever stagnant inside a case so hot air never gets a chance to rise.  It mostly just goes where it's pushed.
