WIth black friday, 3700x or 3800x?

Stuck on what to choose - I've seen videos where the 3800x isn't recommended (considering price) and the 3700x isn't a smacking "bang for buck" performance like the 3600 is.

But with black Friday sales, is the 3700x worth it for $310, or the 3800x for $330? These are both under their MSRP. I just don't know if the extra $$ is worth it for the little extra clock speed.

I'm really leaning for 3800x, but I'm just posting this to have you guys talk me into (or out of) my choice.

If the $20 can go into another computer part to make it a little better, go for the 3700x, the 3800x really isn't noticeably better, they're almost the same dang CPU, just one with a little nicer label.

If the $20 doesn't make sense to spend on another component, then ask yourself this:  Would you derive more satisfaction from the fancier label on your CPU or from going out and having a steak dinner with the money?

the 3800x is likely of a higher bin, so it may overclock better. But overall $20 is probably the most I'd spend on that.

Brands I wholeheartedly reccomend (though do have flawed products): Apple, Razer, Corsair, Asus, Gigabyte, bequiet!, Noctua, Fractal, GSkill (RAM only)

I just had the same conversation with myself, and I went for the 3700x.  I was also buying a new mobo, and saving the $20 on the CPU kept me more within my budget.  But, hey, if you got the cash, and the 3800x is what you really want.  Go for that one.

Along side my 3700x I bought the Gigabyte Aorus Master mobo, it was more money than I needed to spend and certainly an overkill board, but it was the one I wanted, and I have the money to spend on it.

no offense $20 is a brainer and I doubt $20 makes the difference in upgrading any other part to anything significant.  maybe $20 is 3200 to 3600 RAM?  Or a basic Intel 660P NVME to something more quality.  But nothing in my book that will stop you form just clicking the button to get that 3800X

Thanks for the input everyone. Gonna go with 3800x. I think it'll be a nice upgrade from the 2400G, I really need the cores lol.
