Since the boom of 3rd gen Ryzen. But due to some reason i don't feel comfortable building a Ryzen system, even though 3rd gen cpus come out as clear winners.

Is there any justifiable reason to buy Intel rather than amd (Average gaming price point).

If you're strictly, 100% only gaming and don't plan on upgrading for cheap later (assuming you want to move two generations up)

like mentioned above, if upgrade path doesn't matter to you, Intel is the way.

If you're going for top of the line, sure. But does that carry over to OP's "Average gaming price point"? It may be, I legitimately don't know the value proposition of current i5s.

in terms of gaming in the here and now, there are so few titles that struggle on a 6 core i5, but the fact that any AAA titles are better off on a Ryzen CPU makes the mid range gaming purchase an even harder sell for team blue. Still, if you're an eSports gamer at heart and only care about 240fps and the best frame times in all your competitive games, then there's a place for CPUs like the 9600k.

The way the question is asked makes it interesting to answer.

 

The most common comparisons are often performance at a price point, or performance per $, but AMD have historically offered more on both those counts even before Zen 2. If optimising aggressively for every last $ is not your thing, then for gaming the differences between them aren't that big. The gap can grow a big bigger for some productivity use cases.

 

I suppose the way to approach this is not to look at it in too binary a manner. It is not a case of one side is the best and should be the only consideration, with the other side being worthless and must be ignored. In the same way, when you buy a car, do you only look at top speed? Acceleration? Efficiency? Per $? If it does what you want it to do, it doesn't have to be the best in every regard.
