no SSD, hard drive as boot drive will be very unpleasant.

don't worry about a bottleneck though.

also some small quality adjustments

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

PSU tier list

How many watts do I need?

PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

at least get a 120/128GB SSD for windows. the difference is night and day, while you may not have experienced an OS running on an SSD, once you do, you'll wonder why you never did it sooner

okay, i ound a 500gb ssd for $50 on amazon, ill just use the drives out of my old pc

I’ve run on SSDs since 2009 and I wouldn’t ever go back to HDDs. They are only long term storage of things I don’t need to load quickly.

I move photos to a nvme SSD to edit these days too.

I also do this, though for a different reason xD but you're right, that is certainly one way to avoid waiting for slow boots.

However, it's important to remember the benefit of an SSD is more than just fast boots.  For some reason that's always the most quoted benefit, but in my opinion it's actually the least meaningful.  A slow boot time can be avoided by grabbing a coffee while it works or just doing what you said.  The real benefits of an SSD go well beyond that and include:

  • Fast logon times
  • Fast application loading times
  • Far superior general system responsiveness
  • No general slowdown as the install ages

Solve your own audio issues  |  First Steps with RPi 3  |  Humidity & Condensation  |  Sleep & Hibernation  |  Overclocking RAM  |  Making Backups  |  Displays  |  4K / 8K / 16K / etc.  |  Do I need 80+ Platinum?

If you can read this you're using the wrong theme.  You can change it at the bottom.

The 1660 super is a bit overkill for a 75hz screen. You could either save some money by getting a second hand 570 or 580, or try to find a bit more budget and look for black friday deals for a 144hz screen

yeah i might get a better screen if i have enough money saved or the prices are decent on amazon, if kinda been moving things around on my parts list. i have a 2tb hard drive laying around so i might buy a 500gb ssd to use as a boot drive as well as other applications i use frequently
