I just got a question. Soo cherry labels them as super fast switches and best for gaming. I know the difference between blues and silver speeds is gona be super small but how many ms are we like talking about. Lets say for an esport player every ms counts soo realisticly how much faster would the key register? 10 ms?

How much time does it take for your finger to travel 0.8mm? It doesn't matter. Ignore all the Cherry switches, and just get a decent switch from another company.

It's not how fast the key press will be registered...

They are saying it is faster because:

• Light actuation force (45 cN)
• 1.2 mm of switch pre-travel
• 3.4 mm of total switch travel

Then compare that to...like a Cherry MX Blue switch

• Moderate 60 cN force
• 2.2 mm pre travel
• 4.0 mm total travel

I think you need to buy a switch tester to get the full effect of the different switches, and if you haven't tested a bunch, don't buy a mechanical keyboard until you do.

No amount of reading or research is going to tell you which switch is best for you.

I researched for hours. Watched countless videos. Blues were my front runner, then Browns, and according to what I read I'd hate Reds.

Wrong. So wrong. I absolutely HATE Blues, Browns feel like hot garbage, and Reds were actually my favorite (though Blacks would be nicer, they're hard to find in a keyboard in a layout I'd want).

Although I use Silvers myself, I think its bullshit that youre going to react fast with the Silvers switches.

 

The activation distance is earlier, but your finger having to travel less than a mm more or less will not make a noticeable difference at all.

It may feel like it, but if you do actual number based testing, Im pretty sure youre going to to be in the margin of error.

There will be other bottlenecks for reaction before kb switches though. You just have to try them, they actuate faster and also have less total travel which is neat.
